Asus has expanded its laptop range with the introduction of the A6000 series, which offers more in the way of digital entertainment due to the inclusion of a webcam. The integrated webcam can be used by business users for video-conferencing or by online gamers for face-to-face communication with
Asus intend to expand the range to support 15- and 15.4-inch widescreen displays in a chassis that weighs 2.9kg. However, the company has initially made two models available that sport the widescreen panel, with the only difference being the choice of operating system. The A6727Ne-LH (£1091 inc. VAT) is powered by an Intel Pentium M 725 processor, 512MB DDR SDRAM, 60GB hard drive and runs Windows XP Home Edition. The A6727Ne-LP (£1150 inc. VAT) has the same specification but runs the Windows XP Professional Edition for enhanced security and networking options. On the downside, both systems run with integrated Intel 855 graphics.
