As smartphones become bigger players on the mobile device scene, software providers are taking notice. Industry giant Handango has announced its InHand service to streamline the process of downloading applications directly onto your phone.
Handango InHand is currently available for the PalmOne Treo 600, Sony Ericsson and Motorola V series phones. Versions for connected devices running the Symbian Series 60, Pocket PC, and Blackberry platforms are coming soon. Mobile operators like O2 or T-Mobile can provide InHand on their phones to benefit users with a data plan or to entice those without. The service offers customers a secure system for downloading Handango’s best-selling productivity software, games and ringtones from a regularly updated catalogue.
Users can look at the status monitor to view download progress and file size, and the service checks for adequate memory beforehand. If the process is interrupted, downloads pick up where they left off. In addition, purchases are stored in an online account in case customers need to restore programs to their phones. Applications range in price from $5 to $25.
