Intel has introduced the Mobile Pentium 4 548 processor to its line of chips intended for the desktop replacement laptop market. With a speed of 3.33GHz it is the fastest chip the company currently offers. The chip has Hyper-Threading built-in, which allow users to take advantage of multi-threaded and processor-intensive applications in a portable form factor.
The Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor 548, supporting HT Technology, is built on Intel’s 90-namometer process technology and offers 1MB Level 2 cache. The product also offers power management features, such as Enhanced Intel Speedstep technology, deep sleep and deeper sleep. Such technologies enable lower thermals than its desktop counterpart, providing more reliable system performance in a laptop. Expect to see laptops bearing this processor in the coming weeks.
If you are still confused by what those new numbers mean, Intel has added a page to its website explaining their logic – you’ll find it here.
