In the future, there will be no more excuses for getting lost with the wide range of navigation systems overtaking the mobile market. Navman is refreshing its Pocket PC range with the PiN 300 at a time when the majority of GPS (Global Positioning Systems) are bundled with handheld organisers.
The Navman PiN 300 implements the latest SmartST navigation software and the Pocket PC 2003 operating system. It comes with a 256MB memory card loaded with the software and major road networks of Western Europe using map data from TeleAtlas. You also get a CD with street-level maps of the UK and Ireland. Maps can be downloaded onto the memory card from a PC computer. A windscreen mount, in-car adapter and protective carrying case are included in the box.
As a GPS device, the PiN 300 offers customisable points of interest, multiple destination planning, and navigation to Outlook contact addresses. The 3.5-inch 65K colour display has a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels for viewing detailed 2D and 3D maps, featuring topographical landmarks such as parks and forests. Users can set preferences for freeways/urban roads and quickest/shortest routes.
As a PDA, the PiN 300 has the standard organising software, an MP3 player and a voice recorder. A 300MHz Intel PXA255 processor powers the device, supported by 64MB RAM of internal memory. The PiN 300 is available at major retailers in the UK, including Dixons and PC World.
