IBM THINKPAD T43 19/01/2005

IBM has announced that it too will be moving to Centrino 2 with its next generation ultraportable, the ThinkPad T43. The ThinkPad T43 is also equipped with the new generation of Intel Centrino mobile technology, which includes new Intel Pentium M Processors with 533MHz front side bus, the new Intel 915 Express chipset family, and Intel PRO/Wireless 2195ABG or 2200BG network connection.

The ThinkPad T43 will use a new version of IBM’s ThinkVantage Technology, a set of tools embedded that offers a one-button rescue and restore function. The ThinkPad T43 is equipped with the ThinkPad Power Manager. This utility gives users control over the thermal management of their notebook PC, specifically the processor speed and the speed of the fan that cools the processor. While corporate users may not be likely to use such a technology to full advantage, this does imply that the system can be overclocked. The Power Manager also includes additional power management features that let users create battery schemes tailored for their specific computing needs.

The IBM ThinkPad T43 will be available from March with prices starting at £1600 (inc VAT).
