In a day and age when any respectable mobile gadget can multitask, Apple is keeping pace with the launch of the iPod Photo. Now your eyes and ears can be occupied with 40GB (£359) or 60GB (£429) of media files.
iPOD Photo entertains you with up to 15,000 songs and 25,000 photos. While Apple’s classic click wheel remains intact, a vivid 65K colour screen has been added. The 2-inch display has a resolution of 220 x 176 pixels for viewing jpeg images. Up to 25 thumbnails are shown at once. You can also view album art included with tracks downloaded from the iTunes Music Store.
At 158g, the iPod Photo is “no bigger than a pack of playing cards”. Apple claims it will keep you company for 15 hours with music alone, or five hours with music accompanied by a slideshow, on a single charge. With the TV-out port and A/V cable provided, you can put on a slideshow for friends and family using your television or projector. Mac users transfer files with iTunes 4.7, which will synchronise their image collection automatically. PC users transfer files with Adobe Elements or Album.
