Dell has launched its smallest and lightest laptop to date, the Latitude X1. It weighs only 1.14kg, with a robust design and a compact 0.3kg power adapter for life on the road. The 12.1-inch screen is reinforced to protect it from the pressure of being tossed in a briefcase, and the keyboard is sealed to protect against spills.
For an extended battery life, the Latitude X1 is equipped with a 1.1GHz Pentium M 733 ultra-low voltage processor. An optional six-cell battery (£65) gives an estimated six hours battery life while adding only 0.145kg to your load.
Starting at £1279 (inc. VAT and delivery), the laptop is equipped with 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and gigabit Ethernet as standard. Two USB ports, a FireWire port, SD and CompactFlash slots are also on board. Buyers have the choice of 256MB to 1.28GB RAM, 30 or 60GB hard drive, and a CD or DVD rewriter.
