ASUS INTRODUCE WIRELESS HARD DRIVE
14/10/2004

Advancing the ever-expanding plane of wireless-technology, Asus has taken a leap forwards with the introduction of a new wireless hard-drive box, the WL-HDD. Providing more than mere data storage, the WL-HDD also acts as a main hub for file sharing and wireless connections, delivering a compact and extremely useful device for mobile laptop users.

Allowing up to four users to wirelessly save and share their data simultaneously, the WL-HDD enables data transfer speeds of 54Mbps and has proved so successful in Japan, that it has already won the coveted G-Mark award; a prize given annually to products that have achieved the highest standard of design and manufacture.

Weighing in at only 0.2kg, the WL-HDD uses the 802.11g Wi-Fi standard, to allow high-speed access. As part of its core specification, the unit is also able to double as a wireless access point, connecting several users to the Internet concurrently, even with only one network line available.

With its portable weight and multiple applications, the WL-HDD is even simple for users to install, with a step-by-step wizard walking even the most amateur Wi-Fi newcomers through the setup. Retailing for £50/£59 (ex/inc. VAT), and available now, the WL-HDD may soon prove to replicate its Eastern success right here in the UK.
