We knew it had to happen sooner or later but Intel has announced to its customers that as of 25 November it will no longer be producing Pentium M processors running at the older 400MHz Front Side Bus speed. The chips, which were the first generation of chips and referred to as part of the Banias chipset span the Pentium M 725, 735, 745, 755 and 765 CPUs, as well as teh 400MHZ FSB Celeron M chips.
For many, this announcement sees a streamlining of the range, making it easier for consumers to differentiate between the older, slower, processors and the faster generation of chips that use the Alviso (915GM/PM) chipset.
