As more people sign-up for high-speed Internet access and the competition between Broadband suppliers keeps heating up, all the major competitors are looking at more ways to grab a bigger piece of the pie. As one of the most famous frontrunners, BT now looks set to increase its share, and has stepped up with a great deal that should secure it quite a few more subscribers in the run up to Christmas.
For all new subscribers that sign-up online before the 31st December, BT is offering free UK calls for the whole year leading up to 31st January 2006, guaranteeing a fantastic saving for anyone already using a BT phoneline. However, it’s no surprise to find that the deal isn’t quite as simple as it sounds. These free calls cannot be made through your standard telephone handset and instead must be made through your laptop or desktop PC, using the included headset and BT Communicator software.
Minimum system requirements are nicely accessible for the deal, with a 700MHz processor, 128MB RAM and a Windows compatible soundcard forming the basic foundation for the service. Once installed, all standard national voice calls are directed out, via your computer and broadband router.
With only a few weeks left until Christmas, the deal is sure to prove a success as BT users across the country make the most of the deal. As long as you don’t mind spending the next year wearing a headset and looking like a telesales rep, then why not make your way over to the BT website and join the queue?
