iBOOK G4 ENTERS THE FUTURE 21/10/2004

Apple has recently announced the release of a new series of the popular iBook G4 laptop range. Designed as a strong workstation for all users, the new systems take full advantage of the current trends for both wireless technology and digital multimedia.

With three main models in the range, all systems are built around Apple’s PowerPC G4 processors, with a choice between 1.2GHz and 1.33GHz options. Each unit comes with 256MB RAM as standard, and an upgrade option is available, to increase memory up to 1.25GB. With a choice between 12-inch and 14-inch screen models, an ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 adapter supplies graphics in all systems.

Full wireless capability is also built into all models, with Apple’s 802.11g AirPort Extreme technology allowing quick data transfers up to 54Mbps, keeping the system in line with the current wireless boom. Also in place is the addition of slot-load disc drives in all systems, for creating and burning CD’s or - in the case of the high-end 1.33GHz model - DVD’s.

Available now from The Apple Store online, the 1.2GHz model, the standard 1.33GHz model and the upgraded 1.33GHz model (with DVD burning capabilities) retail for £749, £899 and £1049 respectively, including VAT.
