The Dell Latitude is the company’s business range of laptops, aimed at providing the corporate buyer a stable and comprehensive range of machines. Te Latitude X1 (£1173 inc. VAT) is the lightest addition to the range, weighing in at a mere 1.1kg.
Powered by an Intel 1.1GHz ULV processor and supported by 512MB DDR SDRAM and a 60Gb hard drive, users will have fully functionality on the move. The 12.1-inch display is a widescreen display, which means that it is shorter than conventional 4:3 aspect ratio panels, so uses can open it fully even in the most cramped of spaces. As you would expect, graphics are an integrated solution. With full support for wireless, you’ll be able to connect to office network with ease.
Dell is suggesting that the three-cell battery that comes standard with the X1 should offer up to three hours of lifer away from mains power. Additionally, a six-cell (£76 inc. VAT) is available, when used together should offer a full day’s use away from mains power, at the expense of an extra 500g in weight. Supplied with an external DVD/CD-RW combination drive, you’ll be able to decide whether to leave the optical drive in the office.
Our initial impressions of the X1 are of a really adaptable laptop, which is adaptable enough to use as your sole machine. However, those looking for more power will find themselves hampered by the use of a ULV processor.
