Globally renowned for its advances in photo technology, Canon now launches the latest camera in its Powershot range. The Powershot A520 is a 4.0 Megapixel camera with a 4x zoom lens. Using Canon’s Glass Moulded Optics (GMO) lens technology, the A520 is able to provide high quality images from a smaller camera chassis than was previously possible from conventional lenses.
Making life easy for beginners, the A520 features up to 20 ‘shooting modes’ to automatically optimise such settings as light and exposure. This ensures the best results can be achieved in all conditions. Aiding this is a new addition to the Canon digital range. Using a flash directly linked to the zoom lens of the A520, a ‘zoom flash’ feature is employed to restrict the angle of light from the flash, allowing it to carry over longer distances and illuminate even distant objects.
Improving photo opportunities yet further, the A520 is also capable of shooting up to three minutes of film, which can then be edited directly within the camera itself. A range of accessories will also be available at release, and will include a waterproof case for shooting images at up to a 40-metre depth, and a high power flash accessory for additional light extension. Available at the end of February, the Powershot A520 will have a RRP of £239 (inc. VAT). With the Canon name behind it, and enough features to help even the most basic users, now we can all capture a snapshot of our lives.
