TECRA TAKES THE WIDE ROAD 02/08/2005

Mobile professionals can balance work and play on the move with the Tecra A5, Toshiba’s first 14-inch widescreen laptop. It weighs a highly portable 2.2kg, and packs the multimedia punch of dedicated graphics and Harmon Kardon speakers into its businesslike black chassis. Buyers choose between a range of Pentium M and Celeron M processors to go with the Intel 915PM chipset. The system is rounded out by up to 1GB DDR SDRAM in memory and a maximum 100GB hard drive.

Graphics are powered by an ATi Mobility Radeon X600 GPU sourcing up to 128MB VRAM, and the screen supports a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels. For connectivity, the Tecra A5 has an 802.11b/g Wi-Fi adapter and 10/100 Ethernet. A multi-format DVD rewriter with dual-layer functionality lets users backup large amounts of data. Pricing starts at an affordable £704 (inc. VAT).
