As wireless technology proceeds to envelop all previously wired equipment, the next accessory to undergo the wire-free treatment is the trusty audio headphone. An integral part of the multimedia experience for generations now, a constant limitation of audio headphones has always been the distance a listener can comfortably sit away from their equipment before things start falling off shelves. Taking full heed of this, Swiss electronics manufacturer Logitech has found the answer, in the adaptable form of Bluetooth technology.
Working in conjunction with HP, the Logitech Bluetooth Stereo Headphones have been specifically designed for use with the HP iPaq Pocket PC, and will allow users more freedom, both on the move or at home. As an associate member of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, Logitech has already seen some success with various Bluetooth enabled peripherals, and is now pleased to be taking its technology even further, through working with such a high-profile name as HP.
Eric Kilponen, Director of HP’s Handheld Division was quoted as saying “With these incredible Bluetooth stereo headphones, customers will be able to listen to all their audio-enabled applications on their iPAQs without the hassles and limitations of wires”. With no concrete release date or retail price as yet, consumers can expect to see the headphones on shelves this autumn, as Bluetooth, and wireless technology in general, take us even closer towards a completely wire-free future.
