Updating its popular range of handhelds, Dell has announced the release of three additions to its Axim family - the Axim X51v and two versions of the standard X51. Providing technology for all requirements - from beginner to professional - the refreshed Axim range is able to suit all users.
At the top end of the scale is the Dell Axim X51v. Suitably equipped for power, an Intel PXA270 processor is in place and runs at 624MHz. Fitted with a 3.7-inch TFT screen, graphics are provided by an Intel 2700G multimedia accelerator, delivering images at a VGA resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.
256MB of memory provides storage, along with integrated CompactFlash Type II and Secure Digital, SDIO Now, and MMC card slots. Wireless connectivity is also in place, and is provided by integrated 802.11b Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
For less taxing purposes, two standard models of the Dell Axim X51 are available. Similarly equipped, the most noticeable changes to these units are the use of 3.5-inch TFT screens and 128MB of memory. Processing power is provided by a choice of 512MHz or 416MHz CPU’s, and Bluetooth is available on both handhelds. However, only the more expensive model supports 802.11b Wi-Fi
Available now, the Dell Axim X51v retails from £316, and the lower specified X51 handhelds can be bought from as little as £222 for the 416MHz model and £269 for the more powerful 520MHz processor.
