Following the announcement from T-Mobile, regarding its partnership with Microsoft in its MDA III Pocket PC, the time was right to sit down with Microsoft and get some more information on the joint venture. As the first UK T-Mobile Pocket PC to run on Microsoft’s Pocket PC Phone Edition platform, the MDA III packs all the best PDA facilities into a phone-enabled, tri-band device, and T-Mobile see the unit as providing the best of all worlds.
Keen to stress that the MDA III is not a Smartphone, but rather a phone equipped PDA, Hardy Poppinga from Microsoft’s Mobile Devices division stated that both PDA and Smartphone technology are very much software driven environments. As a result, Microsoft hope that its latest partnership with T-Mobile will deliver as much success in the UK as it previously did with Orange.
Available now for £279 (inc. VAT) all we can do at the moment is wait and see how well the MDA III is accepted in the UK market, and watch how this Microsoft and T-Mobile game plays out.
