With security high on the agenda for laptop buyers and vendors alike, Samsung Electronics has announced details of its next generation X-Series of laptops and their adoption of the Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
Trusted Platform Module integrates public key security with fingerprint technology, authenticating the user through the use of an encryption code, which is unique to each individual. Only authorised users can access information both on the laptop and from centralised servers. TPM creates a safe and secure computing environment for storing files, e-commerce and email. Integrating public key security and fingerprint technology will allow users to go about their daily business without worrying about the threat of hacking or data theft.
The Samsung X-Series, featuring TPM will be released in January 2005 – details of pricing and specifications will be made available closer to the time.
