Bringing yet more multimedia support to the already burgeoning mobile phone market, Dutch software company Makayama has recently announced the latest addition to its great range of DVD compression applications. With programs already available to convert DVD’s for viewing on Sony Ericsson and Smartphone handsets, the newest mobile communications manufacturer to get compatibility and its own software is Nokia.
Available from Makayama’s ‘still-under-construction’ website, the DVD To Mobile application allows users with a compatible handset and a computer running Windows XP, to quickly and easily convert their favourite DVD’s to an ultra-small movie file. Using MPEG4 encoding, the resulting movie is so small that it can then be subsequently viewed on a mobile phone screen, via an SD Card.
Supporting a wide range of Smartphones, as well as the aforementioned phones from Sony Ericsson and Nokia, the software is available from the website as a free limited trial-download, or as a fully featured program for $24.99 (roughly £14). With additional software available for converting DVD’s to PDA’s, no journey need ever drag on again.
