Handheld giant PalmOne is gearing up to unleash its latest innovation into the PDA world – the Tungsten T5. With a provisional launch date of October 4th, it’s anticipated that the Tungsten T5 will still have to wait another month before initial shipping will commence in the UK. Palm is expecting sales on their website to begin on 3rd November.
As the first PDA from PalmOne or any vendor to come packed with 256MB of memory, the company is pitching the device at the professional user who is likely to buy the device, rather than being issued with it by his/her company. The memory store is of non-volatile flash memory, so even if your PDA should run out of power on the move, data will not be lost.
PalmOne has also changed the way you can access your information. Gone is the need to be synchronised through the Palm Desktop. Plugging the device into the USB port of your laptop will make it look and act like any other drive.
The Tungsten T5 will also ship with an Intel 416MHz Xscale processor and a higher resolution than previously seen from the Tungsten range. With a display weighing in at 320 x 480 pixels, and the capability to switch between portrait and landscape modes, at the touch of a button, the T5 will aim to cater to all requirements, and provide a greater level of flexibility for a wider range of tasks.
The PalmOne Tungsten T5 will cost £330 (inc. VAT) on its release
