BUFFALO BOOSTS WI-FI
27/04/2005

Wireless networking specialist Buffalo has launched the AirStation MIMO Wireless Cable/DSL Router (£110 inc. VAT) for faster data speeds and an improved signal range. MIMO (Multiple In, Multiple Out) technology uses multiple antennae to transmit and receive wireless signals, boosting transfer rates to 98.7Mbps and extending the signal range up to three times the distance of conventional systems. The faster 802.11n Wi-Fi standard, which has yet to be ratified, uses this technology. The AirStation MIMO Wireless CardBus Adapter (£75 inc. VAT), for adding faster throughput functionality to your computer, is being released alongside the router.

To keep prying eyes away from your data, the AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSS) allows users to setup the router and security features with ease, including WPA and WEP encoding and MAC address filtering. An Intrusion Detector notifies users if an attack has been attempted on their network. The AirStation MIMO Wireless Cable/DSL Router and Wireless Cardbus Adapter are scheduled to hit shelves in mid-May.
