T-Mobile adds two pocket-friendly Windows devices to its portfolio with the SDA and the MDA Compact. The 100g SDA (free to £80 with contract) is a lightweight smartphone with 64MB RAM for storing data, along with the standard Pocket Outlook, Office and Internet Explorer software. It has Bluetooth and an integrated camera with video capture.
Aimed at the prosumer, the 160g MDA Compact (pricing TBC) is a connected Pocket PC with GPRS phone capabilities. It runs the Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition platform with support for landscape orientation. It features a 1.3-megapixel camera for printable shots, a spacious 2.8-inch display, 64MB RAM, Bluetooth and an SDIO/MMC expansion slot. I-mate designed the unit, releasing it last year as the JAM (£395 SIM-free or £160 with Vodafone contract from Expansys).
The T-Mobile SDA and the MDA Compact are scheduled to debut in the UK by the end of March.
