Chinese company Lenovo, after acquiring IBM’s Personal Computing Division, has released a series of products including both Lenovo and ThinkPad-branded laptops.
The ultraportable ThinkPad X60 has a 12.1-inch display, is just 20mm in depth, and weighs a scant 1.67kg, making it ideal for those who place mobility as a priority. Lenovo has squeezed a 1.83GHz Intel dual-core processor into the tiny chassis for efficiency and power, giving the X60 a claimed battery life of up to 11 hours.
The T60 features many of the same features, but has the added practicality of an integrated DVD/CD-RW drive, a better graphics card, and for those who value security, a fingerprint scanner as standard. Although bigger, with a 15-inch screen, the T60 still weighs a modest 2.1 kg, making it an ideal laptop for life on the road.
The Lenovo C100 is aimed at business users, weighs a portable 2.8kg and has a 15-inch screen. Pentium M or Celeron M processors are at the heart of the machine, and an integrated Wi-Fi adapter and DVD/CD-RW are standard. Bluetooth and a DVD-RW optical drive are available as options, and in base form it costs a reasonable £564 (inc.VAT)
Both ThinkPad products come with integrated Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi adapters, and are on sale now, the X60 costs £1220 (inc.VAT) and the T60 £ 1140 (inc.VAT).
