NEC STRIVES TO SAFEGUARD DATA
15/06/2005

With a focus on mobile security, NEC has refreshed its Versa range of business laptops. The company offers a biometric fingerprint reader, a TPM encryption chip or a Kensington anti-theft cable as options on the Versa P550, M350 and C250. The three models share the same silver-and-black chassis and common accessories, with a 15.4-inch screen and a weight slightly under 3kg.

The Versa P550 leads the range with the next-generation Intel 915PM chipset, a choice of Pentium M and Celeron M processors, dedicated PCI-Express graphics provided by the ATI X300 GPU, and a 1400 x 1050-pixel screen resolution. For more modest graphical requirements, the Versa M350 offers the same processors and chipset but with integrated graphics and a 1078 x 768-pixel screen resolution. Aimed at value-conscious companies, the Versa C250 is powered by the AMD Turion 64 or Sempron processor and the SiS M760GX chipset. Pricing to be confirmed.
