Eagle-eyed Internet users may well have seen the news of the PalmOne Treo 650 inadvertently leaked onto the Internet early last week, only for it to be quickly withdrawn. However, so widespread was the news that it seems the company has been forced to announce details of the handset – though it will not provide mass rollouts of handsets in the UK until 2005.
For the European market, the Treo 650 will be a GSM/GPRS/EDGE quad-band world phone. The device boasts a number of improvements over its predecessor, including an improved QWERTY keyboard and 320 x 320-pixel display with improved backlit features. The keyboard has a more ergonomic design, making it far easier to use. Powered by the Intel 312MHz PXA270 processor, and sporting 32MB of non-volatile memory (23MB user definable), the device uses the same base OS as the recently released Tungsten T5.
With Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Memos and more, the Treo 650 lets users organise and simplify lives in one place. Users can dial contacts by name from their contacts list or enter a name or number on the QWERTY keyboard or on-screen dial pad. speakerphone, speed dial and conference calling.
