The 80s retro revival has not been lost on mobile games developers, and we're seeing pocket versions of our old favourites popping up everywhere. Frog is a mobile adaptation of the arcade classic Frogger. Players must guide their frog to safety (and a delicious fly) by dodging traffic across a busy street and then jumping on logs and turtles across a raging river. The simple graphics are cute as a button and ideal for a small screen, with a big-eyed bug waiting to be gobbled and chubby cars trundling around.
The game has eight levels of difficulty. Traffic moves faster and in a trickier pattern as you advance. It only takes a few moments to get the hang of Frog, so even novice gamers get immediate satisfaction. Frog performed well on our Pocket PC. We controlled our frog by tapping arrows on the screen with our stylus. However, we ran into problems on our Palm Zire, because the square screen doesn't leave space for arrows. Joystick control was awkward and we couldn't get the frog to move left to right. This game is wonderful on Pocket PC but it still needs work on the Palm platform, so we've given it two ratings.
