As laptops increasingly become the hub of home entertainment, Dell is launching its first multimedia model equipped with a 17-inch widescreen panel. The Inspiron 9200 is designed to deliver portability, power and advanced graphics whether you're in the living room or on the move. Breaking from the company's traditional blue-and-grey design, this machine's Alpine White and Artic Sliver chassis will look elegant anywhere in the home.
The widescreen display has a default WXGA+ resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels, with an optional upgrade to WUXGA. This is ideal for watching DVDs or working on a document while viewing a website. Multimedia functionality is further enhanced with the inclusion of a dedicated ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics solution for 3D gaming, as well as an SD card reader for transferring digital images with ease. Dell has also placed media controls on the front of the machine, allowing users to play music with the lid closed to extend battery life.
The system is powered by the Pentium M Dothan chip, Intel's latest low-voltage mobile processor, at speeds of up to 2GHz. You can fit the Inspiron 9200 with up to 2GB RAM and a 100GB hard drive. Despite the sizeable screen, the laptop weighs only 3.5kg and measures 394 x 288 x 42mm. Keeping portability in mind, it's equipped with both 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth so you can make the most of public hotspots and wireless home networking. The inclusion of a multi-format DVD burner lets you write double-layer discs ideal for storing large audio and video files.
Starting at £1032 (inc. VAT and delivery), the Inspiron 9200 is a feature-packed multimedia laptop that won't break the bank.
