STAY IN TOUCH

The Nokia 9300 smartphone aims to make life easier for busy execs struggling to stay on top of their email. It squeezes a spacious QWERTY keyboard and widescreen display into a graceful pocket-size casing. The GPRS-enabled phone also features push-mail for receiving messages immediately and Real Media Player software. Users get 80MB of internal storage and an MMC slot to save images, video clips and MP3s. The 167g device also has Bluetooth, PIM functions and Office-compatible applications. Unlike its predecessor, the bulkier 9500, it doesn’t have Wi-Fi or a camera. The Nokia 9300 will be available in January 2005 for about £250 with contract.

FLASHY MUSICAL CHARM

The iRiver N10 takes the quest for music player as fashion accessory to its logical extreme. It doubles as a pendant, while playing MP3 and WMA files. The black casing is guaranteed not to clash with your outfit and the bright blue display has a mirrored surface to catch the eye, even when turned off. Listeners can string the device around their neck using specially designed headphones, or pocket it and use the traditional headphones provided. The N10 is ultraportable with a battery life of 12 hours and a weight of 97g. Three versions are available: 128MB (£99 inc. VAT), 256MB (£129 inc. VAT), and 512MB (£167 inc. VAT) – enough to store roughly a dozen albums.

PLASTIC FANTASTIC

Siemens has announced the elegant SF65 camera phone, an offering to the white plastic renaissance in the gadget world. The unique, swivel display morphs the petite ‘Polar White’ clamshell into a camera with preview screen. The 1.3-megapixel camera features a flash, 4x digital zoom and photo editing functionality.

The images are high enough resolution (1280 x 960 pixels), so you can print them. Dedicated camera and zoom keys beside the display provide easy access for those candid shots. The 97g mobile also includes polyphonic ringtones, games and 18MB of storage. The SF65 hits UK stores in December 2004. Pricing is not yet available.
