Sandisk has announced that it will be bringing its range of flash-based MP3 players to Europe. Launched in the States at the end of 2004, Sandisk claimed record sales, being beaten only by Apple. The Sansa – which stands for SANdisk Super Audio – will come in a range of bright colours and are aimed firmly at the young-consumer market. The units we saw came in lime green, blue and orange. With design high on the agenda, Sandisk is confident they will claim a high-portion of the European market through its established sales channel.
Two different types of player make up the range; the e100-series offers expansion via an additional SD card, while the m200-series, which will be cheaper, lacks expansion but will come with either 512MB or 1GB of flash storage on-board, sufficient for close to 500 songs on the larger capacity player.
With full MP3 and WMA support, the players also have a built-in FM tuner. Sandisk is currently unable to offer UK pricing but it will be in keeping with the US launches of $150 and $200, respectively.
