SNAPPY DRESSER
Canon is letting down its hair with the 5-megapixel Digital IXUS i5 camera, designed for the fashion-conscious shutterbug. Striving for a balance between form and function, the Digital IXUS i5 (£319 inc. VAT) has a slim stainless steel and aluminium body, and is available in four colours: Silver, Midnight Blue, Garnet Red and Zen Gray. The 1.5-inch colour display features an Intelligent Orientation Sensor so pictures are automatically rotated right-side-up. Users can take still shots with 6.5x digital zoom and capture up to three minutes of video. Images are stored on a 32MB SD card, and can be sent directly to a PictBridge-enabled printer with no computer needed.

Sony’s cuddly AIBO robodog (£1399 inc. VAT) can play MP3s, keep your calendar in order and get you out of bed in the morning. The cyber-canine is available in black to be a faithful friend who recognises faces and voices, while keeping a watchful eye on your home by recording and emailing any suspicious activity while you’re out. AIBO can also be the life of the party. It plays musical requests and broadcasts Internet radio, all while per- forming a dance. When not obeying commands to be a jukebox, guard dog or personal assistant, AIBO is always goes to its Energy Station for recharging.

BENQ TAKES A SHOT
BenQ has dived into the multimedia fray with the feature-packed S700 camera phone. The clamshell handset boasts a 1.3-megapixel camera with flash, MP3 player and “smooth, cinema-like” video playback. Users can record video at up to 30 frames per second and view their clips in widescreen mode. For still shots, the high- resolution camera has 8x digital zoom and takes printable photos. The MP3 player features easy-to-use function keys. Memory is in the form of a mini-SD slot, and the phone comes with a 32MB card for storing video and images. The S700 has tri-band reception and weighs a mere 90g. It’s currently available in parts of Europe and should be arriving in the UK soon.
