If you are on a strictly tight budget but need a laptop, then the machines in this group test will more than meet your needs.
The average laptop buyer will be looking for the most feature-rich and power-laden machine on the market. However, what happens if your budget doesn’t stretch to such a dream machine? The subject of this month’s group test hopes to answer this problem, with four machines that offer sufficient performance and battery life to cope with everyday mobile computing. We’re not suggesting that these machines are the answer to all your problems, but they will get you working and they will, for the most part, keep you mobile. The group is evenly split between those machines that offer desktop computing, with the advantage of 3D performance, and laptops with the road, and extended battery life, in mind. Hopefully, you’ll find the bargain laptop of a lifetime on the following pages.
