MV has announced details of the latest addition to its laptop range. The MV Ixius (£1526 inc. VAT) sees the company launch its first desktop replacement laptop. At this price point, the chassis supports an Intel 3GHz Pentium 4 processor (Hyper-Threading supported), 512MB DDR SDRAM of memory and 60GB hard drive.
The MV Ixius is the first laptop to use the latest 256MB nVidia GeForce Go 6800 mobile graphics processor, and scored an amazing 3DMark 2001 SE score of 16578. We also benchmarked this adapter using 3DMark 2003 and recorded a score of 7106, making this the fastest graphics adapter we have tested to date. Considering that this adapter runs at the slower 300MHz speed, we were still more than satisfied with this score. MV will be bringing the faster adapter to market in the Ixius once it is made available.
In terms of design, our initial impressions of the Ixius were positive, with the build quality being impressive and sturdy. Fitted with two optical drives and readily supporting RAID configuration hard disks, buyers will find that this is one of the most powerful systems currently on offer.
MV is taking orders for this model, with shipping to begin the first week of December.
