Audio players come in all shapes and sizes but when you boil them down there are two types – hard drive or flash memory based units. While the former has capacity, the advantage of the latter is their solid-state nature, as with no moving parts you can throw them around and nothing inside will wobble out of place and die – making them ideal for the overtly clumsy as well as the athletic.
Rio Audio has expanded its Forge audio player (£129 inc. VAT) to now sport 512MB of flash memory as standard. The design of the chassis will remain the same with a rugged metallic finish. Powered by a single AAA battery, the Rio Forge should be able to last for up to 20 hours. The Rio Forge 512MB player supports both PC and Mac platforms.
