As the competition to provide the cheapest fastest surfing grows ever fiercer, Internet giant ntl has announced its aim to make zippy 10Mb broadband its standard access speed. Existing customers are eligible for an upgrade at no extra cost by the year’s end.
Those with a 3Mb connection are first in line for the new service, with their usage allowances increased from 30GB to 75GB per month. In a move to match individual needs, price plans will be based on usage rather than speed alone and tools will be provided to allow customers to track how much content they’re downloading.
A 10Mb connection will cut down the time for downloading content such as videos, and ‘anticipates the development of the connected home.’
