The Thrustmaster Nomad Wireless Pack (£45 inc. VAT) is a quick and cost effective way to add peripherals to your laptop. The pack consists of a wireless mouse, USB numberpad and a set of headphones. Everything can betidily stored away in the supplied carry case. The headphones are designed around are coil hub, so they won’t get tangled in your bag or pocket. Sadly though, the sound quality was poor, with no bottom to the sound range, making them less than ideal. Many laptops lack specific number buttons and the USB pad allows for this function. However, the feature we liked most of this device were the two USB 1.1 ports built into it stop, allowing the pad to act as a mini-hub. While you would not able to power any devices through this port, it’s a quick way to add a wireless mouse or digital camera. The wireless mouse is easy to install and is of a good size, sitting comfortably in the palm of the hand. The inclusion of a scroll wheel is a nice touch that’s not often found on portable mice. The overall build quality of the pack is a little lacklustre and we don’t imagine that many serious mobile users would wish to use it, but for the student looking for a cheaper solution, the Thrustmaster may just be an affordable option.
