Logitech launches laptop keyboard
03/09/2008

Yes, your laptop comes with its own keyboard and most of us are happy using it but what happens if you also use a docking stand? The answer is to add a separate keyboard, one that can offer full-sized keys and a more ergonomic design. Logitech has announced such a keyboard with the diNovo Keyboard for Notebooks. This is the company’s first full-sized keyboard for mobile users. It even comes with a numeric keypad, so you’ll get the full PC experience.

This thin and lightweight design offers built-in Wi-Fi, so you can connect it to your laptop with ease. Logitech is claiming up to three years worth of battery life from the keyboard, largely due to improved power management.

There is no pricing on the diNovo Keyboard for Notebooks but we’re expecting it to be on sale in October.

Shipping at the same time will be two other external keyboards. The first is the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard (£49). While certainly not the first Logitech illuminated keyboard, this latest addition allows you to see keys in even the darkest of locations, as the backlight keys now have better light control. According to Logitech, it uses combined microlens reflectors, a multilayer painting process and laser etching, to get the best possible results.

The keyboard has full-sized keys and even a numeric keypad and media control buttons.

At the entry-level end of the range is the Cordless Desktop S520 (£40), which is a keyboard and mouse combination includes hotkeys to launch your favourite applications. There are also media buttons for setting up and controlling your music and videos. The wireless kit has an expected battery life of up to 15 months for the keyboard and eight months for the mouse before the batteries need topping up.
