Acer is set to launch two quite different consumer-orientated laptops, in the form of the Aspire 3500 and 9100 series'. The Acer Aspire 3503WLMi (pictured - £599 inc. VAT) is a cost-effective ultra-budget laptop that features an Intel Celeron M 370 (1.5GHz) processor, 512MB memory, 80GB hard disk and dual-format DVD drive. Fitted with a 15.4-inch widescreen panel and shared graphics solution, it's ideal for DVDs as well as presentations. Considering the weight is a mere 2.8kg, this is a portable and well-specified machine.
For those with a higher budget but still looking for a widescreen solution that also comes with integrated television receiver, the 9104WLMi is an all-round entertainment and work station. The use of a 15.4-inch CrystalBrite display offers improved screen technology, giving images a greater depth. Graphics come courtesy of the ATi 128MB Mobility Radeon X600 GPU for true 3D performance. At £1291 (inc. VAT), the 9104WLMi is fitted with an Intel Pentium M 760 (2GHz) processor, 1024MB DDR and 100GB hard drive. With dual-format DVD rewriter as standard, the system also comes with a remote control for use with DVD media player.
