The Nokia 770 Internet Tablet marks a dramatic departure from the company’s phone offerings. It’s a dedicated device designed specifically for browsing the Web and email communication, and runs Linux-based Open Source software to give innovative developers an opportunity to collaborate with Nokia.
Wi-Fi connectivity is on board, along with Bluetooth for connecting to mobile phones. The tablet has a high-resolution 480 x 800-pixel widescreen display optimised for viewing web pages, and an on-screen keyboard. Internet radio, RSS News reader, an image viewer and media player are also included.
The release date is scheduled for the third quarter of 2005. VOIP for Internet phone calls and instant messaging software is also expected to be released in the first half of 2006.
