Acer is set to cause a stir this autumn with a refresh of almost all of its portable offerings. The launch will take advantage of the company’s new ‘folio’ design that will be introduced across the range. Users looking for a genuine desktop replacement will be impressed with the 17-inch panel of the Acer Aspire 1801WSCi (£1032 inc. VAT), which unlike its predecessor, which weighed in at 7kg, weighs in at a more than compact 4.5kg. The new styling of the Aspire 1800 series
Built around a 2.8GHz Pentium 4 processor, 512MB DDR SDRAM and 40GB hard drive. However, it is the graphics sub-system that will be the most appealing feature of the 1800 series as it is the first laptop to be fitted with the ATi Mobility Radeon X600 PCI Express graphics adapter, which offers the fastest 3D acceleration of any GPU currently available.
