Medion Akoya Mini Netbook at Aldi

Not content with selling its Wind U100 Netbook to PC World, MSI has also struck up a deal with Germany’s Medion computers to sell a re-badged Wind in the UK through supermarket chain Aldi.
If you go to the Aldi website you’ll find the full details of the Medion Akoya Mini E1210 Netbook that will be on sale this Sunday (7th September) in all its stores. At £280 (inc. VAT) it costs the same as the PC World Avent 4211 and if you ignore the erroneous fact of a 16GB processor, the spec is pretty much what we’ve come to expect. So, you’ll find a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1024MB of memory and 80GB hard drive all packed inside the 1.2kg chassis with a 10-inch screen. It ships with Windows XP as usual and aside from the new badge, this is the same machine as we’ve seen before.
If this is anything like previous Aldi/Medion laptop sales, then you won’t be able to pre-order either instore or online and there will certainly be limited numbers. So, if you want to know where your mum's gone shopping, she'll be down at.... (no, that's a different ad)
