PalmOne has updated its Treo range with the release of the Treo 650 smartphone, or as PalmOne are calling the device, “the smarter phone”. While still designed with data has the number one feature, the new handset comes with integrated send/end buttons and a far more telephony feel to it.
The screen has been improved to a 320 x 320-pixel display, which is far brighter and sharper than the old model. While the built-in camera is still a lowly 0.3-megapixels, the light sensor has been improved, so that it can now be used in low light situations.
Based around the Palm 5.4 operating system it is powered by an Intel PXA270 312MHz processor and comes with 23MB of internal memory. The handset weighs 178g and is available SIM free for £449 (inc. VAT). The phone will initially be available as part of the Orange line-up of smartphones but the company has yet to set a contract plan or price policy on the Treo 650.
