Industry leader Nokia is set to fill another niche in the mobile device market by launching the 7710, a widescreen multimedia smartphone with stylus input. It features handwriting recognition and a 1-megapixel camera, a departure from the recently announced 9300 with QWERTY keyboard.
In addition to standard organiser applications such as calendar, contacts and to-do lists, the Symbian Series 90 phone keeps users entertained with a range of multimedia features. Your eyes are kept busy with video clips and images viewed on the 65K display with a resolution of 640 x 320 pixels. For your ears, the phone has a music player and FM radio. An eBook reader is also included and an optional DVB-H video streamer is available.
For business professionals who need wireless synchronisation and messages on the road, the tri-band handset is equipped with Bluetooth and support for Smartner push email. The 90MB memory and the provided 128MB MMC card give users plenty of space to store images and documents. The MMC memory slot supports cards of up to 512MB.
The Nokia 7710 is scheduled to arrive in Europe in early 2005, after its debut in Asia.
