Busy professionals can get down to business while their Beamers are being serviced with the introduction of BT Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots to BMW dealerships across the UK. BMW is the first major car manufacturer to introduce wireless access for its customers, as part of its Fast Track car service offering maintenance, repairs and a wash in less than 60 minutes.
Chris Clark, CEO of BT Wireless Broadband, said Wi-Fi has moved into a different phase away from early adopters and towards embracement by the general public. Broadband and Wi-Fi subscriptions are increasing, laptop sales are up, and numerous wireless-enabled devices are being released.
BT Openzone customers have access to more than 7,800 hotspots across the UK, following reciprocal roaming agreements with the Cloud, T-Mobile and, most recently, Broadreach.
“This agreement with Broadreach is another step towards Wi-Fi access in the UK being similar to the cashpoint system whereby everyone can access Wi-Fi through everyone else's networks at no extra cost,” Clark stated.
