HP has entered the dual-core processor market with a range of machines, the most interesting of which is the Compaq nx9420 (£1291 inc. VAT). The company is claiming that its new machine is designed for power users looking for the most robust laptop in its business line. This claim is boosted with the addition of the Intel Core Duo processor and 945 chipset, allowing simultaneous use of multiple applications to bring the best performance possible to a portable PC. The Core Duo T2400 (1.83GHz) is supported by 512MB memory and an 80GB hard drive. HP Mobile Data Protection System 3D protects data during normal use from shock and vibration while on the go.
Fitted with a 17-inch BrightView widescreen display and supported by the ATi Mobility Radeon x1600 graphics, this is as much a multimedia machine as a work tool and supports the full array of Compaq docking solutions.
